CONTINUED GROWTH

Now is an ideal time to reflect on what we have achieved over the last twelve months. As an Industry we have been dragged kicking and screaming into an era of long-awaited regulation, a transition that we as a company have made with pleasing fluidity. The advent of licensing has brought us many opportunities to develop further, and this has been demonstrated by the continued growth of our offices both here and in Ireland, with our sister company NorthSec Security Services (NI) Ltd. continuing to flourish, and the opening of new offices in Walsall and Glasgow.

ACS APPROVED

In April 2006 BritSec International Limited, achieved SIA Approved Contractor status (ACS). This was just reward for two years of training and planning which has developed our officers into recipients of nationally recognised awards for outstanding service.

During the aftermath of the 7/7 bombings in Central London, Aidan Harris and Marion Dooley were on duty at Capital House, a building directly above Edgware Rd tube station. In the hours following the blast, the pair administered first aid to over 30 people whilst assisting the emergency services in the setting up of the joint emergency services command centre. Their poise and judgement amidst the chaos of that day is a true credit to themselves and the company, and they were rightly honoured with an award at the BSIA awards in London last July (full details are available in issue 31 of “Security and Team” magazine).

Whilst the circumstances surrounding that day are unique, we have had many incidents of outstanding service to our customers, and we will be nominating a number of officers for their contribution in next year’s awards ceremony
.

LICENSING

The company now has over ninety five percent of its workforce licensed, with the remainder expected to receive them within the next few weeks.

Both Head Office and the Chester office have recently been exhaustively audited to ensure compliance with the ACS standard, and we are pleased to say that both have passed with flying colours. This is testament to the hard work and continued dedication shown by our officers, as well as the company’s commitment to continued professional development.

The company’s commitment to partnership working has been evident over the last twelve months. Contracts such as Sheffield City Council, Cambridge City Council and Walsall Housing Group are fine examples of how effectively a contract can run when constant communication between the customer, supplier and relevant agencies such as Police and Outreach teams is maintained. As a company, we have a number of large and prestigious contracts due to commence which we are sure will be as successful as those already mentioned.
